Would you enjoy one of these activities?
- Experience travel as most people did before
airplanes and interstates.
- Ride a train with automobiles beside you.
- Relive a train trip you took prior to the 1970's.
- Have lunch in an independent restaurant or a
national chain.
- Take a stroll and watch the hustle & bustle of
a big town.
- Take your bicycle on the train. Ride around
northern Fishers and then take your bike back via
the train.
- Enjoy a snow cone or ice cream during your visit.
All of these can be done when you ride The Nickel
Plate Limited.
On five Saturdays the Nickel
Plate Limited journeys south into Delaware Township of Hamilton
County and stops at Fishers. In the mid 1990's the
town of Fishers built a train station in preparation for
future commuter rail service and the Indiana
Transportation often uses the facility. The WFMS
FairTrain© and the Polar Bear Express© both run from
here.
The station is located at
116th Street and is surrounded by restaurants, stores
and shops. There are plenty of things to do in
Fishers.
Additionally, on May 2, May
30, June 13, June 27 and July 11 the Bicycle
Car will be in the train when it travels to
Fishers. You can bring along your bike. Ride
around Fishers for 90 minutes and return to Forest Park
via the train or ride your bike back to Forest Park.
