Experience our hometown-style
Hamilton County hospitality this summer on our
Hoosier Heartland. The train departs from Fishers,
one of Hamilton County's Eight Great Towns, and travels
to four more of Hamiltonian County's Eight Great Towns. Two
trips of the Hoosier Heartland have been run in 2008
with an amazing number of riders boarding on June 28 for
a day of touring despite the rain. The
next Hoosier Heartland runs on July 12 but the train will
not travel to Fishers due to the Street Dance that night
on the square in Noblesville. On July 12th the
Hoosier Heartland will depart from Forest
Park in Noblesville at 11:15 AM. Then, on
July 26 the train will run its complete (and last for
2008) trip between Fishers and Atlanta. Enjoy great food and entertainment at
each of the participating communities:
Noblesville,
Cicero, Arcadia and
Atlanta.
Ride all day aboard the
ITM's historic passenger trains with a special one-fee wristband
"ticket" at only $12 for adults and $8 for children ages 3-12.
You can purchase wristbands at Fishers
Station or at the train
on your day of travel. The
trip begins at 10:35 AM at Fishers Station, located on 116th Street
a half-mile west of exit 5 of Interstate 69 in the
Fishers Government Center. If you board the train there
and ride the train every time it moves, you can still
spend:
and return to
Fishers by 5 PM.
Please keep in mind that the Farmers'
Market will be taking place at the train station so
try to arrive at least half-an-hour ahead of departure
to find a parking place. Departure time from
Fishers is 10:35 AM. If
you choose to stay in one place while the train
continues on, you could stay in:
-
Noblesville's
historic downtown
with its dining and shopping for 5 hours and 40
minutes
-
Forest
Park with its carousel, historic Tom
Thumb Golf, swimming pool, tennis courts,
playgrounds and picnic areas for 5 hours and 10
minutes
-
Cicero with its
restaurants and Morse Reservoir for 4 hours and 15
minutes
-
Arcadia to visit the
Arcadia Heritage Depot and, perhaps the Hedgehog
Music Showcase, for 2 hours and 5 minutes
-
Atlanta with its new
mercantile and Judi's eatery for 45 minutes
and
again, you will be back at Fishers by 5 PM.
You can also board at any
other station along the line (except Atlanta, of course)
and ride north and then back to your boarding point. If
you are a die-hard railfan plan to arrive at the Indiana
Transportation Museum in Forest Park by 9:45 AM.
You can buy your wristband there and ride ALL DAY, even
on what we consider the "deadhead" moves from
the park to Fishers in the morning and from Fishers to
the park in the evening. The train should arrive
at the park to be "put to bed" at 5:35
PM. Total length of that trip will be over 49
miles. HOOSIER
