Discovering the History of Indiana's Railroads

There are few things in life as exiting as watching a young child experience a first train ride or a visit to the engineer's cab of a locomotive... ITM offers a special educational environment in which to introduce youngsters to the history and technology of railroading...

School Programs

The Museum also offers two School Programs: Railroads In The Midwest and the Polar Bear Express - School Edition.

Railroads In The Midwest prepares your students for their visit to the Indiana Transportation Museum. A specially trained "Conductor of Education" will guide your students through the static displays at the ITM Museum site, and on their train ride experience. Students will learn about the important contributions made by the State of Indiana in the development of early transportation and railroad travel throughout the Midwest.

Tours may be booked from April through October.

The Polar Bear Express introduces students to the children's story The Polar Express and is offered in December.
